1. What age is appropriate to start Private Lessons?
It really depends on the maturity of individual child. We have students as young as two; the key is for a child to be able to follow directions and interact with his/her teacher for 30 minutes. While Piano, Violin, Viola or Guitar may be a good instrument to begin, the final decision should be made by the wishes of the child and the parent. Reading skill is not required.
2. How are lessons conducted?
We understand that every student is unique. That is why on the 1st lesson, we will conduct a Gift Assessment to understand your student better and create a customized curriculum designed only for your student. Every year we will work with you and your child to set a specific goal to teach responsibility and satisfaction of achieving their goals.
3. What are your policies for practice?
We are a firm believer of "Practice makes Perfect!" Like anything else you try to learn, daily practice is essential and cramming just does not work. Each student will have a practice record along with all other materials to log a prescribed number of practices minutes per week.
4. Do you offer Performance or recital opportunities?
Yes. In fact all students are required to participate in the Summer & Winter recitals which will begin May 30th, 2009. Participation in other recitals or concerts are not required but encouraged. In addition, students are encouraged to participate in yearly auditions held at American College of Musicians which qualifying students and parents will be notified in advance. They will be eligible to receive medals, ribbons, certificates, etc.
5. What if we do not have an instrument to practice at home?
While it is ideal for a student to have an instrument to practice with, it is not required--especially if a parent is not sure if the child will enjoy a particular instrument. We usually recommend starting with lessons before making the purchase decision. When a family is ready to get an instrument, we have rental, rent to own, or purchase options that you can choose from. Please ask for details at the studio.
6. What are your Attendance & Make-up policies?
In order to get the most out of your lessons, regular attendance is absolutely necessary. If you have to miss a lesson, you must call or email at least 24 hours in advance for the lesson to be considered excused. We will work with you to reschedule at a better time.
If you miss a lesson without notifying us in advance, that lesson will not be made up or refunded.
7. When will the Studio be closed?
We are closed during major holidays, including: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day & the day after, and Christmas Day.
A general rule for inclement weather is that the lesson will likely be canceled if Douglas County Schools are closed. Please call the center or check our website before heading out. We will reschedule all lessons.
8. Do you have lessons for adults?
Yes! It's never too late to start or to pick back up!
9. Where is your studio located?
Our address is 858 Happy Canyon Road, Unit 140, Castle Rock, CO 80109. We are located at Happy Canyon Road and Highway 85 in the Village at Castle Pines mall.

12. What are payment policies?
Tuition is billed in monthly installments and the monthly tuition is due by the 1st lesson of the month. Payments not received by the end of the 1st week will be assigned a $10 late fee.
13. Do we have to get our own materials?
No. Once we complete the Gift Assessment on your student on the 1st lesson, we will gladly get the materials for you and charge it to your account.
